Limon, Caribbean Coast Costa Rica
Established when Columbus first anchored offeshore in1502, Limon has proved over the years to be the premium deep-sea harbor for Costa Rica exports. The government built the Atlantic Railroad across the mountains to bring highland coffee and bananas here to ship, and the city became a major export. Fortunately, new revenue from cruise ship passengers is beginning to spur the renovations to make the town more interesting to travelers.
